Teacher Support

As Reading In Motion partners, teachers receive a comprehensive system designed to improve their results from day one. This system includes:

Training

New teachers begin with our two-day (16 hour) intensive Summer Institute, at which teachers learn how to deliver the Benchmarks program with fidelity. We provide additional training outside of the classroom in the fall and spring to extend teachers’ development during the school year to a total of 23 hours of training per teacher.

Tools

All teachers receive access to our all-inclusive Digital Platform, which includes a teacher’s manual for each grade level containing daily lesson plans in English and Spanish, as well as tracking tools used for measuring student progress and testing. We provide original songs and drama scripts to build student brain connections, their level of engagement in reading, and excitement about reading and fluency. Teachers also receive high-quality books for their students to read and materials that stimulate students visually and tactilely. The materials kit is comprehensive, covering everything teachers need to deliver the program’s content for the entire school year.

Coaching

Through our Coaches, we provide various levels of classroom support to teachers to aid in the implementation of our program, as well as to offer general guidance. Coaches meet with new teachers face-to-face every two weeks throughout the 32 weeks of our program, and they help evaluate students’ reading data, adjust student instruction, model best practices, and provide a wealth of constructive feedback.
