Kirstin W. Smith is a literacy advocate, writer and community development consultant residing in Chicago, Illinois. As a native of the city, Kirstin has long been involved in community issues that impact some of Chicago’s most underserved neighborhoods. As a graduate of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and Spelman College, Kirstin developed a deep interest in understanding how sound policy could be used to improve the viability of minority communities. This knowledge afforded her the opportunity to work with members of the civic and business community throughout Illinois as well as manage community programming on the State and neighborhood level. Kirstin is married, a mother of two sons, and is a proud resident of the south side of the city.
