Instructional Coach

Brenda, Instructional Coach, joined Reading in Motion as an Extra Dosage Instructor in October 2017. Previously a school counselor in North Carolina and later with Chicago Public Schools, she took several years off to raise her now 8-year-old son. While her son was beginning to read, she saw first-hand both the joy and struggle that beginning readers can experience. She realized she wanted to help other children on this journey and began volunteering with WITS, reading one-on-one with kindergartners and then completing a one-year internship with Open Books facilitating a Reading Buddies program with 2nd and 3rd graders. She was thrilled to begin working as an EDI, conducting groups both in English and Spanish. Brenda enjoys baking, yoga, and trying new restaurants throughout this wonderful city.
