Ms. Santiago is a kindergarten teacher at Goethe Elementary School. Last school year, she was inspired by the confidence and inquisitiveness her students exhibited as they progressed in their literacy skills. She offered them the guidance to become active learners, and they embraced their role in learning wholeheartedly. During Fun Friday, where the kids play in various classroom learning centers, she was excited to observe them pretending to be the teacher to each other. “They sang the reading songs I’ve taught them with one another, and it was really nice to see my lower scoring students participate and sing along too!”
Ms. Santiago gave props to the Reading In Motion program for providing a step-by-step process for her and engaging, motivating lessons for students of every learning style. She especially appreciates the coaching she receives as an educator. Ms. Santiago’s implementation of the program has been outstanding. She is always eager to find the solutions that work for each and every one of her students, and tunes into their individual needs. By the end of the 2018-19 school year, 94% of her students met or exceeded the critical skill of phoneme segmentation fluency – an accomplishment worth celebrating!
Thank you for all you do for your young learners, Ms. Santiago.
