May 24, 2019 – Ms. Fletcher is a 1st grade teacher at Dunne Technology Academy. As a former student at some of Chicago’s best public schools, Ms. Fletcher says she wants her students to have as much fun learning as she did. She loves the Reading In Motion program and is doing an outstanding job implementing it. Ms. Fletcher shares, “I’ve seen the growth in my readers and they challenge themselves and each other.” One student in particular has grown a lot since the beginning of the school year. “Layla* began the year with very low reading scores. Because she was a struggling reader, she didn’t read at home and was completely uninterested in books. However, with Reading in Motion’s support in the classroom, Layla’s enthusiasm and desire to learn have improved drastically and she’s making huge strides in closing the reading skill gap between her and her higher scoring peers.” Not only is Layla now enjoying learning to read, but all of Ms. Fletcher’s students are finding their potential as strong readers. Way to go, Ms. Fletcher!
